Bayern Munich Champions League

Real Madrid overcome Bayern in epic semi-final

Davies' early strike cancelled out by Benzema and Rodriguez

Substitute Javi Martinez sent off late on

Real Madrid booked their place in the Champions League final with a 4-3 aggregate victory over Bayern Munich, despite losing the second leg 2-1 at the Santiago Bernabeu on Tuesday night.

Alphonso Davies gave Bayern a shock lead in the 11th minute, but Real Madrid hit back through Karim Benzema and James Rodriguez to secure a 2-1 win on the night and a 4-3 aggregate victory.

The match was played at a frantic pace, with both teams creating numerous chances. Bayern Munich had the better of the first half, but Real Madrid were the more dangerous team after the break.

Real Madrid's victory was marred by the late sending off of substitute Javi Martinez, who was shown a straight red card for a challenge on Lucas Vazquez.

Real Madrid will now face Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League final on June 1.
